House Hunting With My Daughter Stephanie

Today was a busy day of house hunting with my 20 year old daughter Stephanie.

She’s been living away from home for a few years and she now wants to buy a home of her own.

When she left school she went to England for a year as a GAP student and had a wonderful time, not only in England but travelling throughout Europe as well.

Colette and I went over to visit her and spent some time with relatives and friends in Germany as well.

When she came back home, she enrolled in the Public Relations course at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst and decided it made more sense to live in Bathurst rather than at home.

Being the resourceful person she is, she accepted a job as an assistant housemistress at All Saints College in Bathurst (in return for free food and accommodation) and worked in Banjo’s Cafe at every possibility.

Once she came to work with me in the business and joined me on so many seminars and interstate business trips, it became more and more difficult to do justice to her role as assistant house mistress at All Saints College.

So the next adventure for Stephanie is to find a house of her own.

For weeks she had been pouring over the local real estate guide in search of properties under $200,000.

She spoke to the wonderful people at Investor Finance and obtained ‘in principle’ approval for a home loan of up to $200,000.

With that in hand and the local property guides we went in search of suitable properties.

Since real estate agents in Bathurst generally close by midday on weekends, we’ve had our work cut out for us.

Given that we were looking at the lower end of properties available though, it was easy to focus on what was of interest to us and draw up a shortlist.

A little 2 bedroom cottage not too far from Mount Panorama has captured Stephanie’s Stephanie's cottage!attention and we’ve decided to craft an offer on this property.

It needs a bit of work and a big clean-up in the garden, however this is exactly the type of property where Stephanie could increase her equity quickly.

Warm Regards,
